Pamela Husky

Pam Husky earned a B.A. in Ceramics at CSU and a Master of Liberal Studies in Art from OU. Her Master's thesis was Artworks In The Alfred P. Murrah Building. Joy Reed Belt was one of three jurors who selected this first General Services Administration collection of regional fine crafts from 400 submissions in 1977. The thesis was basis for a GSA catalog, and Pam worked with the General Services Agency to repair and install the surviving fine crafts collection in the UCO library.

Pam served ten years as Artist-In-Residence for the Oklahoma Arts Council, teaching weaving and feltmaking to 10,000 students in OK schools. In 1996, she joined the art faculty at UCO, where she taught weaving, fiber art, art education, and drawing. As Assistant Chair of the 400-student art department, Pam wrote curriculum for 50 undergraduate and graduate courses, earning awards for teaching excellence.

In 2007, Pam helped establish Team Up to Clean Up, an environmental nonprofit in Eufaula, OK. For a decade, the group recycled thousands of tires annually, held free cleanup events, cleaned illegal dumpsites, and planted 300 trees and several wildflower plots, engaging local students. In 2015, Keep Oklahoma Beautiful chose Pam as their Champion Volunteer, the highest award for an individual.

Her work in tapestry and feltmaking received the American Tapestry Alliance Award, Handweaver's Guild of America Award, Oklahoma Visual Art Coalition Awards of Merit, and the People's Choice Award of the Intermountain Weaver's Conference. Husky's fiber art is included in the Oklahoma Permanent Collection at the Oklahoma State Capitol.

After 4 decades of rural living at Lake Eufaula, Pam moved her home and studio to McAlester, OK.
